365 Project: My First Week (Washington DC Family Documentary Photography)

I've recently started a 365 project and will be challenging myself to shoot and share one personal image per day, every day, no matter what. My goal for the project is to continue documenting our days, even when the weather isn't perfect and the house is a mess. I'm also using the project to try out some new techniques, and maybe eventually perfect them! This week, I got to try some panning with my niece on the swing set. Panning is when you move your camera in motion with your subject using a low shutter speed, so the subject is clear and the background is blurred with motion.

Day 1. A shot of the storm through our window. It's rare for me to take a picture without people in it but I love the mood and glow from the gas station in this shot.

Day 2: She was so mad at me for making her come inside for dinner that she stood here wailing for a good ten minutes.

Day 3: She loves her pears.

Day 4: First time in the shower without screaming but she still isn't 100% on board.

Day 5: Golden hour at Grandma's house. I'm a stickler for early bedtime but parents, keep your kids up late one day a year to get some magical golden photos.
